Vale Leigh Garwood

The Seeing Eye Dogs/Vision Australia team has suffered a great loss this week with the passing of Leigh Garwood. 

Many of you would know Leigh as the former Chief Executive Officer of Seeing Eye Dogs from 2004 to 2008.

He then led the organisation into the merger with
Vision Australia and continued as General Manager
of Seeing Eye Dogs before expanding his role to become General Manager of all client services, including Radio and Seeing Eye Dogs, across
Victoria in 2013.

Leigh was widely known for his passion for Seeing
Eye Dogs and the blindness/low vision community.
He was instrumental in the development of the world-class puppy and breeding centre, which opened in 2014. He was loved by all of his colleagues, clients, puppy carers, and volunteers for his approachable
and kind nature, his passion, and his commitment to our mission. 

He will be sorely missed and our thoughts are with his wife Bernadette, and children Skylie, Jenna, Brooke, Danielle and Jaison. Leigh's funeral will be held today in Melbourne.
