Puppies don’t discriminate; they just need a loving home

06 May 2013

Male or female, single or de facto, opposite sex or same sex households – none of that matters to Seeing Eye puppies that are in urgent need of loving homes. Seeing Eye Dogs (SED), a division of Vision Australia, are searching for puppy carers to volunteer their time to love and raise a puppy, who will one day become the eyes for a client who is vision impaired.

With all costs covered by Seeing Eye Dogs, the puppy caring program only requires volunteers to care for a puppy in their home from the age of eight weeks until they are approximately 12 months of age. In a time where peoples' financial budgets are stretched, this is a wonderful opportunity for people to get involved with the organisation without having to contribute financially. Your love and time is all Seeing Eye Dogs require to ensure the puppies are well socialised before they begin their training to becoming a Seeing Eye Dog.

SED is the only national provider of Seeing Eye Dogs. It costs $30,000 to raise and train just one Seeing Eye Dog. Currently, 25 Australians a day are learning they will lose their sight. This number is expected to increase to 80 per day by 2020, making the work of Vision Australia all the more vital to the community.
